You may agree or disagree with me on this, (and that's OK), but I think Nike has overstepped their bounds by creating and preparing to sell shoes with the likeness of the Betsy Ross American flag, then capitulating to one person - Colin Kaepernick. We are not a perfect nation, but our forefathers (and mothers) created a truly unique form of government - a republic not a democracy. And for all the good the USA has done over almost 250 years, we SHOULD cherish our roots and be proud of our history. We should also disavow and be ashamed of slavery. But we can't wipe that chapter from the history books or change what happened.
Last month, we celebrated the saving of Europe through the fearless assault on the Germans in France and every 4th of July we should celebrate the origins of this country.
I am personally going to boycott Nike and all their products - including the cool stuff they sometimes have in the WCU bookstore. I sent a note to Nike yesterday and made it public on Twitter. They are part of an un-elected cultural government that likes to shame people into agreeing with their beliefs. We can have an impact. Look at how the NFL lost millions of viewers and attendees over the same person who is responsible for Nike changing their minds on this matter.

I have to totally agree with you. It is ridiculous that one person or small group is allowed to shame people into agreeing with their opinions and beliefs or be labeled with all sorts of derogatory names. It is also a shame when a business goes along with such nonsense so while I have not been a big buyer of Nike stuff in the past, I will refuse to do business with them or any others that go along with this kind of nonsense.

For all we know this is just a big publicity stunt.

You're right Patriot. I saw someone talking about it today and they said that Nike would rather lose a few customers, but solidify support among their most profit generating core groups - i.e. kids, young hipsters and urban dwellers.

As you guys know, politics & religion don't mix well on fan message boards. I'd appreciate any political or religious discussions taking place on the members only board, thanks......
