One thing I totally disliked about the interview, Hooker would not ask Speir the questions submitted by the fans. There were some nasty comments but there were some questions that were legitimate. 75, I sat behind the team Saturday & I never saw Coach Speir chew out the Coaches for the play of their respective players. Sometimes when your subordinates fail, you have to put the fear of God in them for not preparing their players for the game. Speir’s Leadership Qualities are not what they should be to be a Head Football Coach.

Speir said that the special teams didn't have team meetings like the offense and defense. I ask "why the hell not?" Special team play has been a problem for years. Are you not willing to have meetings to fix the problem. Maybe that's why you don't know you have a problem until you have a problem. You might not assume a player knows something that they don't.

Usually only once or twice during the season is there an actual Q&A on Facebook live.

It is a lot easier to coach special teams than overhauling a jet engine. LMAO

Speir’s Leadership Qualities are not what they should be to be a Head Football Coach. Hooker is not going to ask coach any hard questions or put him on the spot. First he is the SID so he will never say anything bad about any coach or sports team at Western Carolina. Also, he likes Coach Speir and is pulling for him to succeed so he if there are any questions, they will be of the softball type. Hooker is not a journalist, he is an SID. So if you expect him to deliver a hard hitting interview with tough questions, you will always be disappointed. If you listen to Coach Speir, he has a few catch phrases and rehearsed remarks and he always says the same things and always gives the same excuses no matter what the year is or how the team performed. Everything is always fixable, it is always the coaches fault, everything revolves around consistency, but there is never anything specific and nobody on the coaching staff ever gets called out for doing a bad job. I kind of agree with not calling individual coaches out as long as he is dealing with it behind the scenes. For example, the new special teams coach is not getting it done. I don't care if he has been in the ACC and has years of experience. The fact is that he is not getting it done.

Flcat, its just the same stuff that folks have been telling you about Speir for years, but you've defended him every time you were on the board. Now, thanks to folks like you, we're stuck with his crap and his like of coaching knowledge for at least 5 more years, because we can not even think of buying his contract even if we had an AD and board that wanted to do that.

Did not realize I had that kind of power. I was not aware that it was me and people like me was the reason that Coach Speir got an extension. Do you really think that Randy, Coach Speir or the Administration give two sh-ts what anybody on this board thinks? In fact at Western, the leadership has proved for at least 40 years that they do not care about their alumni base. So I would say that me and people like me had absolutely nothing to do with Coach Speir getting an extension. I hope he turns things around, because if he does not, we are in for 5 more years of bad football. You have to give it to Coach Speir though. He convinced Randy that he had to give him a 5 year extension. It is not like any other team in America was going to hire him away as a head coach. I think that says more about Randy than it does Coach Speir...
