OK folks, I don't see the point in bickering about the band.
It just so happens we have a very good band. The band is not under the athletics department, I can assure you, if it were, it would be worse than the football team. The music department hired good leaders to direct the band, and has somehow resourced the band to what it is today. Do I really care about a marching band, not as much as I care about the football team. However I can take some pride in what the music department has put on the field to support the football team.
Why complain about having a good band? Would you prefer no band like Wofford? or a small band like Chattanooga? The band has nothing to do with WCU football, maybe if we put a decent football product on the field, the band members, might just get interested in the games, and supporting WCU football.
I guarantee you one thing, the Pride of the Mountains brings more potential students into Western Carolina than the football team does. So, stop it.

We have a good one and they exist because we play football. No football, no band. We all agree.

We have a good one and they exist because we play football. No football, no band. We all agree. UAB's band stuck around while the football team was dissolved. The band was committed to a packed fall season of high school exhibitions and two Bands of America performances, a regional in Georgia and a super-regional exhibition in Indianapolis. Surprisingly WCU already does this while hosting the Tournament of Champions and summer camps for high school members and bands. Saying the band cannot exist without football is just being short sighted...

Instead of looking forward to the play offs, we can look forward to the Macy's Parade.
