Blaming Cole seems a little over the top IMO. Mercer absolutely knew we were not even going to pretend to run the football and he threw 5 TDs and nearly 400 yards. He threw several bad and forced passes, but we still were there at the end as a totally 1-dimensional offense. As a team we did everything we could possibly do to give this game away.
We now have to buckle down. Win the last 3 convincingly and we are in. Lose a game and we are out. Play 3 close ones and we make it easy to give the committee a reason to drop us.
We HAVE to run the football. We had a true FR in the game when Adams was out and I expect he did not know all the plays, blocking assignments, etc. Not blaming him, but we just have to be better.
An 8-3 season is still achievable, and the playoffs are still possible. We have to put things into perspective on where we were 4 years ago to where we are now.
The last 2 weeks hurt, but they are a lot better than the 2 or 3 (or less) win seasons. I am as upset as anybody, but trying to have some historic perspective. We are not nearly as good without Reid as we thought we were, but we are still better than we have been in a long time.

Wow there are some real doomsday comments here when we lose! We just take care of our business and see what happens. Nobody knows if we would have won with Desmond in the game. Cole has had a couple of bad games but protection hasn’t been there either.
I think this is a reason why Reid is an FCS back, injuries have hampered him both years. Will only get worse at FBS. I don’t see a lot of schools taking that chance on him as a feature back. But maybe he’d settle for being backup.
Keeping the Florida connection together is paramount for the next couple of years or we start from scratch again.
Finally, enough of the hype videos. We obviously let our ego get ahead of our talent. Spend more time WATCHING film than making it.
I have two degrees from Western, I plan on retiring back to the area. I’ll always be a Catamount fan no matter win or lose. Now I’m gonna get ready for some soccer, anxiously awaiting hoops, and continue to cheer on the football team!

It we win the next three that gives us 8 fcs wins 2 fcs loses and 2 top 25 wins. If that does mint get us in I would be surprised. Is Davidson keeps wining we will get them first round because they like to keep it regionally. If we beat Davison we would most likely play Furman because they like to keep it regional for the first two rounds. Hopefully we would have a healthy Reid in 5 weeks.

Can’t believe we lost to the bear II’s Bears have owned us for a while. I just want to beat some of these teams that always clean our clock. IE Furman and Mercer.

First point: In our 5 fcs wins we ran the ball 187 times vs throwing the ball 176 times. So a completely balanced approach.
In our 2 fcs loses, we ran the ball 43 times vs throwing the ball 87 times. Now I realize we don't have Dez, but why are we completely changing our offensive game plan? At the fcs level, if you want to win games and championships, you must run the ball.
Second point: Championship teams play good defense. While we have shown areas of improvement, our defense is still seriously concerning.
Last point: Take care of the ball! 3 turnovers in 5 fcs wins vs 8 turnovers in the 2 fcs losses

Six turnovers on offense -- including two on kickoffs and a pick 6 after we recovered a Mercer fumble -- were back-breakers. And for some reason we could not tackle their quarterback. Yet we still clawed back to have a chance in the end. But we can't dig that deep of a hole. I was sad about last week's loss...but stunned by this one.

I was more sower today than usual, I sort of hated watching them lose in person. The one game I chose to attend this year was a loss. Regardless of my unrealistic comments in the heat of the moment, I’m still glad that we are winning. We’ve come a long way in 4 years.

It’s terrifying to think that ETSU held Furman to 16 points. Last week Furman was walking up and down the field on our defense with ease. Hell, they could’ve just run the ball on us and not pass a single time and beat us.

We need to put this one behind us and get ready for Wofford. We were in the game over the past 2 weeks without many starters including Reid. These losses are in the past and we need to go 1-0 this week. Worrying and complaining about could have, would have, should have and giving our expert analysis about what we think went wrong does not help anyone. We lost and our record is now 5-3 and that’s who we are. We are much better than we were with the last coaching regime and we will only get better year over year. You know these coaches and kids are hurting worse than we are. We need to give them all our support and continue to cheer them on to hopefully an 8-3 season. Bell has only been here for 3 years and he was hired late in the year so the future is extremely bright.
