The Blue Raiders are 2-0 on the season, with a 74-57 win over Northern Kentucky, and a 67-62 overtime win over Stephen F. Austin to start the season.
Middle Tennessee enters the 2023-24 season with a strong returning core complemented by a new set of faces, the Blue Raiders have six new faces to replaces five transfers and one graduate from the ‘22-23 squad. As the highest-finishing team among those retuning to Conference USA, MTSU earned a tie for first in the CUSA preseason coaches poll with incoming Liberty.
The Blue Raiders return nine players from 2022-23, high-lighted by key contributors in Camryn Weston, Elias King, Justin Bufford, Jestin Porter and Jared Coleman-Jones. A preseason All-CUSA selection, Weston is the leading scorer among Blue Raider returners, coming off a 10.6-ppg performance in 2022-23. He is 322 points away from becoming the 36th Blue Raider to scoree 1,000 career points, a mark he has eclipsed in each of his first two seasons at MTSU. If he reaches that milestone this year, he would be the 18th player to do so in three years or less.
Team announces Cam Weston will miss the remainder of the year with a torn ACL. Huge loss for the Blue Raiders. Weston was Middle Tennessee’s most established guard and most natural playmaker. His absence is going to be very tough to overcome.
