Nice find. On paper, their defense looks better, but when you score as many times as we do, the ball will be in the other team’s hands more. We need to take care of business and get in the playoffs. With a healthy team, we can beat anyone.

As Coach Bell said a bunch early in the year, stats are nice but they keep score for a reason. Against the top-half of the SOCON so far, VMI has given up 24 to UTC, 38 to Mercer, and 37 to Furman. They also gave up 27 to Samford. Their stats and defensive points allowed are helped by games against Wofford and Citadel (gave up 14 in each game), and only giving up 7 to Davidson.
I certainly could see Western playing poorly and making this a close game (like the Mocs did with them), but if we play decent I would expect our offensive output to be much more in-line with what Mercer and Furman did to the Keydets vs Wofford or Citadel's output. VMI has also only scored more than 24 points one time this season - and that was after scoring 17 points in the 4th quarter against ETSU (a team we just put 58 on).
VMI is also going to be missing one of their best WRs. According to their board, Chance Knox is out after having surgery. I expect them to try and run the ball more than pass anyway, but it is something that could impact their passing game if we get up on them and they have to throw it.

Other factors are the very early start time and VA weather. But it looks like the forecast is for upper 50s to around 60, sunny, and 10-15 MPH winds. Not too bad for that area of the country in mid-to-late November. But it is a forecast, and can (and often does) change. The noon kick is more of the concern for me when we all want to get off to a hot start.
