I bet Coach Bell welcomes the increased level of competition. I like it that we are playing tougher competition. It will make us better in the long run.

William and Mary have schedule OOC games with 3 teams in the SoCon for 2024..........VMI, Wofford, and Furman.
Seems atypical for a CAA team to schedule so many OOC games from the one conference. Is this a sign of something in the works for W&M to become a SoCon member?

As we know, scheduling is pretty difficult and is typically done pretty far in advance. The Wofford game is the second of a home-and-home series. Furman also announced a few months ago a series with Richmond in 2026 and 2027. And they have a trip to NC A&T that is the second part of a game they played against the Aggies in Travelers Rest a couple of seasons ago. And of course we have series coming up with Elon and Campbell.
I think this is more a sign of teams trying to find other decent OOC games that don't break the bank for travel. I'd actually expect lots more SOCON vs Big South and the Southern CAA teams going forward.

I don’t see us ever playing more than 2 FCS out of conference games unless it is a 12 game season. Western will always have to play a money game against a P5 school and sometimes 2 games as long as those games are available for us to play.

William & Mary was in the SoCon for about 50 years. Left in mid=70s with Richmond. They did not like App State, Marshall, Chattanooga and WCU being admitted to the SoCon. They only way I can see them returning is a deal with Richmond and maybe Elon, but I seriously think that will happen. William & Mary, like Richmond and Elon draws students heavily from the DC/Maryland and Northeast as well as Northern Va.

Well - Montana didn't win the trophy, but still made the finals. I like the fact that Furman played them well. If we have a strong off-season and do well with our new/transfer players, we may have a shot at these guys. Not sure how many players will graduate or transfer, but nonetheless looking forward to a good FCS challenge.

One of Montana's top WR (Bergen) and their Jerry Rice Award-winning RB (Gillman) can return - no idea how much transfer portal interest they will get since they had to wait so long for their season to play out. Another good thing that can come from winning - you have a better chance of keeping more players.

Montana's QB just went into the portal and they are saying their RB will be right behind him. The RB is getting P5 and G5 offers
