Coach Gray and his staff came to WCU only expecting to stay 3 years. They made it clear in early conversation they were coming to build something and move on. He has been very open about that throughout his time. The coaching staff all have spouses who work remotely. None of them invested in making Cullowhee home. Even if we offered more money he’s gone.
I’ll one up this conversation and even say Alex Gary will be gone this Spring.

A few people mess up everything for everyone else. Coach has never said he is leaving after 3 years. Probably an idiot goon.

FL why do you always assume App fans come here to stir up trouble? That fan base does not care about us. They are not coming here to post. At one time you accused me of the same thing. Just because someone posts something you don't like don't assume they are lying. I have not heard that Alex is leaving but I would not be surprised if he did and Justin Gray is mostly like going to leave and I heard all last year from people that his wife does not like the area and it is too rural for her. She spends 98% of her time at the Charlotte house or overseas where she is from. If you need proof check her Instagram.

Nothing to lose now by talking about this, now that the SoCon ensured WCU would not make the championship basketball game in the tournament....

You knew the SoCon would not allow WCU anywhere near the final esp having to play Furman

As long as WCU remains in the SoCon, WCU will not win championships. The folks in Sparkle City will continue to ensure that happens. You can have Justin Gray or Kiley Hill, the results will remain the same. Kiley Hill just makes it easier for them to pull off.
So no need to cry over Gray's departure, we could have any of the other SoCon head coaches in football or basketball and the result would be the same, no championship for the Catamounts. Like it or not, if your name is not Wofford or Furman, and don't stand much of a chance in this conference.
When a conference has terrible officials to begin with, then add to that, the conference's bias for and against certain teams, it spell disaster for the remainder of the membership. WCU will always be on the outside looking-in as members of the SoCon, just as they have been for the last 40+ years.

I figured that Alex would stay until the athletic facilities were in place unless he is getting frustrated about how long it is taking or he does not believe it is going to happen. He talks about Western being home but he is not a graduate because he left before he graduated so maybe that is just smoke.

Have you been in every conversation he has ever had? No. Obviously I’m not going to tell you how I know this. I’m just going to tell you what I know. Take it or leave it. I would love for Gray to stay but the reality is he is not. He wasn’t happy with his contract when he came here, his wife doesn’t like Cullowhee, his coaching staff never invested in staying in the community. Coach Gray literally pays out of pocket for some of the positions on staff. Why would he choose to stay. Coastal might not be a huge step up but it would take some pressure off of him. He isn’t going to call his connections to beg for new gear each season.

For the record I would love for Justin to stay. I think he’s one of the best coaches to come through WCU in decades. His teams the past three years have been so fun to watch. Students actually attend games again. Him coming to WCU has been great. I would love to see him decide to stay. He deserves a title.

He isn’t going to call his connections to beg for new gear each season. When I spoke to Justin right after he was first hired he mentioned to me that he was going to reach out his contacts at Nike to get a third uniform for free or for a lower price than we pay for the home and away. Soon after the black ones were revealed. I always heard the rumor that CP called in a favor to hook us up or JG paid for the black jerseys himself. I thought it was just a rumor till I read your post
