How are we not recruiting and offering this kid. He is from Sylva. Folks say he is committed to ECU but his Twitter page says he is unsigned. No excuse to lose top level talent in Western North Carolina to anyone. We should at least recruit and offer this kid. Great size and speed. twitter.com/DaMareWilliams3

According to 247, we did offer Williams. Also, it’s Smoky Mountain High School.

There is a connection between DaMare Williams' family and ECU's head football coach Mike Houston. I understand it goes back to when Houston was a Franklin High.

I was not meaning to criticize the coaches. Poor wording on my part. Just saying we should not lose these local kids if at all possible. I think it odd that his Twitter page says he is unsigned. It’s along way to Greenville from Sylva. Maybe there is still a chance since he says he is unsigned.

I was just pointing out that the high school is spelled Smoky. The elementary school is spelled Smokey. No clue as to why they are not spelled the same way.

He’s a classmate of one of my daughters. He’s a skilled player, but he did not have a great senior year. He’ll be a small fish in a big pond at ECU. Hope he can make it work. He was recruited by a lot of bigger schools as a junior, and I believe we offered him kind of late. We did sign another couple of kids from Smoky Mountain.

His quarterback from his junior season (Jed West) transferred to Tuscola and the QBs at Smoky this past season couldn't get him the ball. Also, a pretty good defensive back. I don't think he is 6-2...maybe 6-0.
