All of our conference losses except for the road loss at Samford could have gone either way down the stretch. We will win 20 games this year and are better than we have been in a longtime. This is a very up year n the SoCon. I don’t remember a time in recent history when there have been this many good teams in the conference. The SoCon is much better than it is ranked.

I was thinking about how many seniors each team has starting. Graduates too! It's my first year watching the season closely, so maybe that is not unusual, but it seems like every team has built up for this year to win it all.

The issue for WCU is the cupboard is going to be bare next year. WCU will be rebuilding next year so it will be a down year

Boy have we been in some close conference losses this season. Every game has been decided by just a few points except the Samford game. These games could easily have turned into wins but unfortunately things haven't worked out in our favor. There have been times where we couldn't get a defensive stop, get a defensive rebound or we take a poor shot that was forced. That's just the way the cookie crumbles in college basketball. Some people on here get real negative after a loss and trust me, I am that way too. We've got to keep the faith. This team is one win away from 20 wins which for us is an extremely good season. Of course we all came in with the mindset that this season was going to be Socon Champs or bust. This dream is still up for grabs. Crazier things have happened in college basketball. Let's all keep the faith and let's get to Asheville to cheer on the Cats.
If we as fans can travel and make some noise like we did in Greensboro last night then there is no reason we can't show out in force in Asheville.

If we as fans can travel and make some noise like we did in Greensboro last night then there is no reason we can't show out in force in Asheville. Agree with what you are saying. For some reason (probably because we have not consistently won over the years) our fans are very fickle. If we win 6 or seven in a row, our fans come out in force but if we lose one after a long win streak, our fans don’t come out and support and many make absolute statements saying the team is no good which is not true. We could just as well win the conference tournament like any of the 4 or 5 other teams in the conference. We have the talent and ability. I will always support The Cats win or lose. Western is my school and in my opinion, you always support your school win or lose. If you don’t do that, you should seriously consider becoming a bandwagon fan for an SEC or ACC school and support them. The ones of us who are true Western fans don’t want to hear all the negativity. Folks have every right to be negative, but they should look inside and see if they would be happier if they were a part of another fanbase.

I went to WCU for undergrad, and I’m currently at an SEC school for graduate school. I will always cheer for WCU over any power 5. If WCU played my current school I would cheer for WCU. Hell I found myself cheering for another SoCon school when they played the SEC school I go to. However, I think it takes a combination of marketing, geographic location, funding, and sustained cultural success to have consistent fan turnout. For instance, my current school gives out free chicfila to students who obtain tickets, it’s located in a large metropolitan area, then arena hosts more than just athletics, and the team has consistently won for over a decade. Western isn’t there yet. We need facility upgrades, marketing resources, large non athletic events, and sustained success. We are getting there, but it will take time. Money is everything.
