Yeah Alex has known for months this was Justin’s last season. Again, it wasn’t a secret to anyone close to the program. I don’t think AG cared about who he hired because he’s not going to be here. The first chance he gets he’s out of here. Too much of a mess to have to answer for. OK, we're getting a little close here to slander. It's fine if that is your opinion, we all have opinions, but a couple of you are walking a thin line. As far as the hire goes, I didn't interview any of the candidates, but if you say he just hired someone to get it over with, it would have been much easier to hire one of the assistants, as they were already employed by the university, again I'm not saying that would have been the best hire, but it would have been the easy way. I also don't understand why the hire is getting universal praise everywhere except on this board.

This may be dumb. Is it possible the new coach could come him and take the team to the CBI this year since he has CBI experience. Or since kids are in the portal the season is over over.

That was far from “slander”. Again I’m a season ticket holder, alum, a catamount club member. I think Craft is a great coach but I was rooting for Lightfoot just from an energy standpoint. I hope Craft can keep the students coming. As a Catamount I’m going to support any coach that comes to Cullowhee.
And honestly I’m scared for our university…I love WCU. I’ve gotten to know people in the department and over the years I’ve seen one person after another be treated bad and bridges burned. I genuinely am concerned for where we are headed. We are one team away from being forced down to a Division 2 level. This is a reality. I would rather post and get banned than this time next year everyone is shocked. I hope someone reads this and questions are asked. I’m just sharing because I care.
I’ve posted in several other threads that have nothing to do with Athletic Admin. Again, I’m a fan who loves OUR university.

The SoCon gave each school money to go to post-season tournament. WCU used theirs last year. That’s how they were able to make that happen. Plus I think between seniors and transfers they’re done for the year. Going to miss Tre, Russell, and Woolbright. They were fun to watch

If we had a chance to keep any of the players, you can kiss that goodbye. All the ones that Gray wants, he will get. The other thing we don’t know is that maybe they offered Lightfoot the job and he decided to go with Gray. If that did happen, Lightfoot is really not to smart to go with Gray if we did offer him the head job. I don’t know that but there was so much upside to hiring Lightfoot, I can’t believe that Alex did not know that. Makes me wonder if Alex is that good of an AD with his lack of budget managing expertise and now this. I still think that Alex should have at least contacted Eric Wilson who is at Middle Tennessee. For the first time, I agree with you. It seems that GW’s Athletic Programs are having trouble getting along with their Chancellor.

Well, that didn't take long...That was the fastest hire I have ever seen. 98, I sure wish I could see the list of candidates that were passed over to hire Tim Craft. That would tell me a lot about how good or bad this hiring was by the AD.

I have only seen one comment that praised the new coach & that was from an Assistant Coach at UNC. When you look at his resume, he looks like a mediocre coach at best. One thing for sure, he will have nothing left to work with at WCU & the AD knew that might happen based on a prior Head Coach leaving for Winthrop.

Obviously, some of us see and hear what we want to see and hear. He will have the same thing to work with that the last coach had to work with when Prosser left and took almost all of the remaining players with him to Rock Hill. He's a big boy and I sure he knows the cards he will be dealt. He will either succeed or fail, but I'm going to give him a chance before I call him a failure before he even arrives in Cullowhee.
