Thanks for the update, that firms up the three games we know about at Coastal Carolina at Texas A&M (Nov. 14) at Tennessee I wonder how long we are going to play two FBS games per season?

Western will continue playing BCS teams until the University gets serious about increasing the on campus enrollment. More students means more money for athletics & more Alumni giving just like ASU.

We are serious about increasing enrollment. Last year was a record year, and look for another one this year. You can't just open the floodgates and expect quality students and quality products. The best students want to go to a school that has a quality program and not easy to get into. Dr. Belcher has done a phenomenal job in just two years of increasing interest and keeping standards high. Watch us grow even more when (not if) our athletic program becomes one of the best in the Southern Conference.

When you have over 16,000 applicants and only accept 39%, not good numbers for a State Supported School. Believe App State had less applicants & accepted over 60% of them. I believe their academic ranking is higher than ours & our Athletic Program is not equal with theirs. WCU is not and should not be a Regional University when it is supported by all the taxpayers in NC. There is a direct correlation between Alumni Giving, Enrollment Numbers and how successful a Athletic Program is at the college level. I to am impress with Dr. Belcher. I think the Board of Trustees made it plain to him why Dr. Bardo, Head Football Coach, & the Athletic Director were fired prior to his hiring. I just hope the administration sticks to & improves the growth projections in the schools Master Plan.

The comparatively low acceptance rate is an indicator that folks want to come to Western but we can't currently accommodate all of the applicants. I'm sure Dr. Belcher wishes we could increase that rate. It should be an excellent justification to receive additional funds for campus expansion. I remember my freshman year, I was in a small room in Reynolds with 2 other guys. In one connected suite with a single commode and shower, there were six guys. Wouldn't happen today.

I was on the baseball team & Reynolds Dorm was the Jock Dorm. I know exactly what you are talking about. The problem now was created by Bardo when he was told to increase the size of Western by Mr. Boles who was in charge of the UNC Universities. Dr. Belcher has his work cut out for him. Remember, you can increase enrollment without adversely attracting quality students. Again, App State, UNCC, and ECU have done it & I'm sure WCU can follow their blueprints.
