A quote from a Jeff Hartsell article in the Post & Courier -
This is the most information available so far on the SoCon Digital Network. It looks like it's going to happen.

From the Samford Football Fact Book released today.
SOCON DIGITAL NETWORK The Southern Conference Digital Network, a league-wide digital network available free of charge to consumers on multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs, is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2014. The SoCon Digital Network will broadcast intra-conference games, across several sports, not selected by national or regional networks. Archived or VOD (Video on Demand) content will also be available and housed primarily on institutional websites.
Looks like we'll be able to watch SoCon games across the board for free this season. Great news, we were falling behind Big South, A-Sun, and the rest in this area.

It's certainly past time for this to happen, we behind everyone else in streaming video. I certainly hope this at least puts us on par with the Big South.

With the Cat out of the bag, the SoCon announced today the SoCon Digital Network would launch in August. The Southern Conference will launch the SoCon Digital Network, a free streaming service available live and on demand, in late August, Commissioner John Iamarino announced Tuesday. The SoCon Digital Network will enable fans to watch their favorite teams at home and on the road in league play in high definition (HD). The content will be accessible through the SoCon member schools’ websites as well as through the conference’s official site, SoConSports.com. All 10 schools and the league office will produce events for the network. The Southern Conference has purchased more than $2 million worth of video and audio equipment for its member institutions to bring them all up to the SoCon Digital Network’s broadcast standards. Events will be shot from multiple camera angles and will incorporate audio through a combination of radio feeds and dedicated announcers. The network will feature live broadcasts of games not selected for carriage on national or regional outlets, as well as highlight packages, coaches’ shows, student-athlete features and more. The content will be adaptive to a variety of mobile devices, including smartphones, iPad and Android tablets, and laptops and PCs. Viewer features will include the ability to watch four events at once, picture-in-picture, and DVR rewind, pause and fast-forward controls. The network will also utilize consistent graphics and will feature replays. www.soconsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4000&ATCLID=209600518#.U85y9pOwP-E.twitter
