During the game with Brevard, the officials made a call for pass interference on the Catamounts and an illegal lineman downfield for Brevard. The penalties were off-setting. However, the coach for Brevard went berserk while ranting and raving at any official that would listen. His players tried to calm him as did his fellow coaches. He was never penalized even though the game was stopped so the head referee proceeded to the Brevard bench to visit with the coach.
Does anyone know his concern? I am thinking the officials made a mistake because the Coach was not penalized for his behavior.

He was of the opinion that the illegal receiver call was a mistake, and nullified what would have been a nice gain for Brevard with the interference call.

He was of the opinion that the illegal receiver call was a mistake, and nullified what would have been a nice gain for Brevard with the interference call. Thanks. As the penalty unfolded I watched Brevard's fullback (#49) having a serious discussion with the official who called the penalty. I then ascertained that he was the person called for being illegally downfield. Let me preface my next comment with an opinion that he is a very good running back. However, he is built like an offensive lineman with powerful legs and large upper body. The official may have noticed him downfield and neglected to check his number. Had the official done so, he would have noticed that the young man was a fullback.
As the scenario unfolded I suspected the officials made a mistake when the referee stopped the game to go over to calm the coach. Also, the coach was so irate he yelled at any official within listening distance while running up and down the sideline. I thought, "Why doesn't he get a flag and 15 yard penalty?" When no flag was forthcoming, I realized the official knew they had mad a mistake.
Thanks for your feedback.
