El Cid is a trap game for sure though I feel we have been schooled on the triple option the Dogs have some speed.
Either way I will be there and cheering for the Cats! My hope is we learned our lesson from PC and we continue to climb our way to another victory! So much fun seeing the wins again and all the hard work that got us here!

Am I the only one on here worried about the game this weekend? I don't know what it is but the option makes me very nervous. I could see us messing around like in the PC game and losing I'm totally with you on this. That option offense the Bellhops run makes me nervous too. Hopefully Coach Speir and staff have the guys focused and we play solid D - and, again, start fast with the Offense. GO CATS!!

Coach Speir's comments today about the game, the Citadel, and Troy Mitchell -
on this week's game - "The thing you learn when you have a little bit of success - which we haven't had here in a while - each game gets bigger and bigger. The target on you gets bigger and bigger. But what our players and coaches have done a great job of is just staying in the moment," said Speir. "We can't control the previous seven games, and we can't control the rest of this season. All we can control is today at practice; this week at practice, and getting ready for a very good Citadel football team."
"I think we'll have a big crowd. We were on the road last week and with fall break, our students were gone. So, we're anticipating a big crowd. It's Homecoming, so obviously that adds to your crowd," said Speir.
He added, "Our players, they know it's Homecoming. They know where they are and position they're in - you don't have to tell them that. All we are worried about is getting ready, controlling what we can control which is ourselves in getting ready for a great Citadel Bulldog football team."
on the Bulldogs- "Their wins and losses haven't shown how good a football team this is. I think we have prepared well six out of seven weeks this year, and that's why we've had some success. And if we don't prepare well for The Citadel, we'll get beat Saturday. And so, obviously, that's all we're worried about is The Citadel Bulldogs. I've got a lot of respect for Mike Houston, for him and his program. He did a great job at Lenoir-Rhyne, played for a national championship last year. He knows what he is doing with this offense and they play extremely hard. They're physical."
on Troy Mitchell - "He's a lot better. He threw the ball well last week, had the zip back on his passes. He gets a little bit sore, but is having no pain. I would say he was about 90-to-95-percent last week. With our athletic trainers, he's done a great job in rehabbing. He's back to 100-percent, Troy's at full speed."

We should all be very happy with our start, but change around the outcomes of the Furman and Presby games and our season is pretty much about what most people were predicting. NO WAY given our historic issues with the triple option (and our struggles in SoCon games in general until this year) should we be looking past Citadel. And throw in how we got caught in what seems like the definition of a "trap" game after the big Furman win with the Presby loss, and I truly hope none of the players or staff are looking at UTC (and I trust Speir and staff to have these guys ready). We are right where we want to be at this point in the conference, but we have 4 more games we need to win and not just the 1 against Chatty. And we have to win them all 1 at a time.

It concerns me too. Not because we might have a mental lapse game but because The Citadel has always given us fits AND they've been our HC game a good number of times of which they've been a spoiler.

The good news is i think i will be working the first week in November and was told, if you get a job, sure you can go to a game. She had no clue WCU was playing so well either. So hoping i can make one in November. My wife got offered to go to the beach for a girls trip for free, my stepson is at his dads this weekend so, i thought great i can go to Cullowhee, then she volunteers me to meet up with his dad and bring his football equipment on gameday instead of just letting his dad have the equipment when we meet up Friday, He plays for Char-Meck Youth Football league. My goal was to let father and son spend time together (of course i had as alterior motive), but she expects me to be there at his game. I have not missed any of his games this season. But i think she is getting me back for having season tickets at ECU last year and the WCU mini pack and missing 75% of his games last year. Had my stepsons game been 8am or 9am, i probably could have made it but its at 2:30 this Saturday. LOL at this, unfortunately buddy i'm afraid this marriage isn't going to work out. My wife makes fun of me for caring so much about catamount football, but she has not and never will tell me that I cannot attend a football game to support my school. She grudgingly rode down to Furman with me a few weeks back for the conference opener because "i had a feeling" this year and this team would be different. I happened to be right. She also went to the Wofford game with me and she will unwillingly be there on Saturday. She doesn't love it but she knows I do, so she goes. We both attended WCU, she graduated in 2010 and I graduated in 2008 so we've both witnessed firsthand how awful WCU has been in the past. I also attended both WCU and ECU. Went to ECU in 2004-2005 and then transferred home to western. It's definitely the best season I've ever seen for our two schools.

Cats by at least 10 VMI might surprise someone, I think this one is less than 19 Bulldogs by 3, I think Furman may take this one at home Mocs by 24 - sounds about right I don't want to predict a 10+ point Cat's victory just yet against anybody - I predict a victory, and that is good enough for me! But for entertainment purposes, I'd give the 7 points and take the Cats. VMI getting 19 from Wofford - I agree that is a lot given VMI has shown they can score. Wofford is the better team but not sure they will blow them out, so I would take the 19 and go with the Keydets. I have no idea how to judge Samford (or Furman come to think about it) - if the Furman team that scored against Coastal shows up, I definitely could see this going Furple's way. But questions on both sides here would make it hard for me to put money on this game either way. I'll go with my hopes and take Furman and the points. Oddly, Mercer has been giving big points in most of their SoCon games EXCEPT against us last week. Mercer has some players, so I could definitely see a score more in-line with how we beat the Bears. It might be 3+ TDs at some point, but the Bears keep fighting so I'd take Mercer and the points.
