Looks like a pretty good, experienced front line to me. 63 Zach Weeks LT 6-3 285 RSr. 72 Andrew Miles LG 6-4 310 RSr. 65 Kaleb Spry C 6-5 295 RSr 75 Nathan Dalton RG 6-7 315 RSr 52 Grady Thomas RT 6-4 285 So Thoughts? There is gonna be scored a lot of points because of these guys, should be one of, if not the, most experience lines in the SoCon. Since he's such a big O-line guy, wonder what the Mercer/Furman guy, FuBear, thinks about our offensive line? I'm sure he's not impressed. LOL

I know i am thinking ahead but next year is going to be rough losing all those starters on the line I'm sure the coaches are thinking ahead as well, and have been recruiting to fill those holes. The Cats certainly need to make their mark this season.

Torrion Stevenson was DL recruti when signed and 6'1' 315 pounds. Early verbal commit to Coastal who flipped to us. If you look at old recruiting websites he shows as commiited to Coastal and it shows an offer from Virginia(?) On the last football roster with pictures he is still listed as a DL. On the roster shown on the football page under news under the 7/23/2018 roster he is shown as an OL.
Looked at his film most of which was as a DL and the opposing OL was knocked around by him like bowling pins. Only question was the talent level of his opposition. Someone please tell me this is not correct. Given the DL defense or lack thereof last year surely we would keep a recruit with these credentials on defense. We lost several people who started and/or played to some extent on the DL. Also Helms played a good bit as a sophomore DL and does not show on this years roster. Again, I hope this is a typo. I hope a lot of freshmen play significant time on the DL.
I also hope we see a log of freshmen at the linebacker position. We lost all four starting linebackers and depth was not great last year.
Finally, the defense last year in my opinion was not Wiley's fault. It was not good and I still thought he should have been a candidate for coach of the year in the SOCON. Listen to Mitchell Chanceys comments about the young, I think, freshmen DL.

LOL everyone is new except the QB, a S, the punter, and maybe an OL who is a senior...something along those lines.
I think the OL is gonna be one of the best units in the SoCon.
Any word on what our receivers look like?
I'm excited about some of the young guys on the DL. We need them to play well.

O-line ***should*** be the strength of the entire team. When you are returning 4 full-time starters who are all RS-Seniors along with a couple of other guys who have gotten playing time, you need to take advantage of it. I know we lost Detrez, Terryon, and Hill from our skill positions, but I honestly think we have the talent and EXPERIENCE to be a better offensive team this coming season.
But as many others have said, this team will only be able to go as far as the defense allows. I don't want to see games where we out gain teams and score a bunch of points only to see us lose because we can't stop the other team from making big plays. And that is exactly what kept us out of the playoffs last year. We were a few defensive stops away from 9 wins instead of 7.
