With the addition of Travion McCray, Tyler Harris, Xavier Cork, & Nicholas 'Nick' Evtimov, as well as, the now eligible point guard Mason Faulkner, the future does look bright for WCU basketball.
Travion McCray - SG Tyler Harris - SF (6'6") Nick Evtimov - PF (6'7") Xavier Cork - C (6'9")
Once these guys learn the system, with the returning players, WCU can hopefully move up to the top third of the conference this upcoming season.
Thoughts?

You never know how recruits will pan out, they look good on paper and we have some players already on the team to build around. Let's hope we're moving up.

I believe we will be much improved next season. If you have noticed the SoCon players that are transferring, ETSU, Chatt and even Wofford are losing significant players. I think we should compete for upper division seeding. I am very excited about the direction our program is going in.

I think we will be better next year. It is hard to tell which if any freshmen will contribute. If we do improve, it will be mostly from the development of the current players on the roster. With all the transfers from other schools, we should improve in the conference, but that does not mean we are better. That just means the conference will be weaker which does not necessarily mean that we are better. I like the coaching staff and they seem to know what they are doing and have brought in some nice talent. 80 percent of winning in college is recruiting and if we continue to recruit, we will be fine. It will just take 4 or more years to right this ship.

Watch youtube videos on Evtimov. The dude has game. Comes from good basketball bloodlines. His father played for Carolina and his uncle played for NC State. I believe I also read that his grandfather played professionally in Europe. It is in his blood. He might be the biggest pickup for the Cats since Kevin Martin. Nice size at 6'7" also.

There is glimmer of hope for basketball at Western Carolina, among the sea of despair that is the overall athletic program.
