I very seldom root for Michigan in anything. However, I do hope they beat UCLA because UM baseball has an indirect connection with Western.
Head Coach Erik Bakich played at ECU for Keith LeClair. He wears uniform #23 himself. Then he was an assistant for Jack Leggett at Clemson before taking the HC job at Maryland for 3 years before moving on to Michigan.

If im not mistaken Bakich was one of top candidates back in 2007 for the WCU or on our "wish" list but dont think ever even interviewed. If i remember right and may be wrong but something about his wife didnt want to live in Cullowhee? Probably just a stupid rumor.

During the ESPN live coverage of the Michigan games from Omaha, Keith LeClair's name has been mentioned numerous times.
Most touching for me is the report that Erik Bakich had a conversation with Coach LeClair not too far from his death in which he promised Keith that he would take a team to Omaha... "...for him..."
Coach LeClair ALMOST made it to Omaha with The Cats in 1992 and his 2001 ECU team was beaten in the Super Regionals by Tennessee.

It was the #1 goal of Keith's coaching career to take a team to Omaha...
Michigan got off to a great start last night in Game 1 of the Finals. But Vandy is so-o-o-o tough... You just about have to concede Game 2 to Vandy due to their SP Rocker.
