Gov. Roy Cooper on Wednesday signed a bill into law that allows legal beer and wine sales at campus sporting events throughout the UNC system.
Last week, House Bill 389 passed the N.C. Senate and House. Now that it has Cooper’s signature, the final step before alcohol sales begin is for the Board of Trustees from each UNC system school to vote to allow sales throughout their athletic facilities.

Catamounts should go undefeated at home this season

This is a no brainer decision and that is why the BOT and Administration will screw this up and want to debate what to do. This would happen easily at any other normal college campus but you watch. This will not be a slam dunk and I would not be surprised that the goobers that run our university will have a problem with it. Sorry but it is just a pattern of stupidity that goes back 40 years. I had been told our BOT's were on board with it and there was already some preliminary planning being done long before the bill really got going.

Why aren't we selling beer at the games? Figures. We are run by idiots after all.

I might take a couple hours to develop a plan, a good starting place would be any and all of the other schools that are selling beer. Appalachian State or UNCC or UNC or State, I'm sure they all have beer/wine sales plans in place. It's stupid and bullheaded to lose that revenue over the course of 6 home football games in Cullowhee, where attendance will be 10 fold of basketball.

As I understand it, it’s a staffing and security issue and making sure whatever plan is put in place is done correctly and has the people to make it happen. But there is a committee with a few very capable people on it working on it.

If it's going to take until basketball season to do the things you outlined, I've got to question everyone involved "capability" to write and implement a plan, that goes from the BOT on down. Like I said, this is not rocket science, as the BOT would have you and others to believe.

The only I see about starting it with basketball instead of football is that basketball crowds and the headcount can not prepare for the rush and the head count at a football game. They would have made a ton this year with the amount of fans wanting to drink away this nightmare of a football team
