South Carolina hiring Lamont Paris as next men's basketball head coach
South Carolina is hiring Chattanooga coach Lamont Paris as its next men's basketball head coach, with the sides agreeing on a five-year deal, sources told The Athletic on Tuesday. ESPN first reported news of the hire.
Paris replaces Frank Martin, who was fired by the Gamecocks last week after compiling a 171-147 record since joining the team in 2012. Paris went 87-71 in five seasons leading Chattanooga, culminating in an NCAA Tournament berth this season, in which the 13th-seeded Mocs were narrowly defeated by No. 4 Illinois in the first round.

Yeah, it seems like a big step up. Wes Miller didn't exactly set the world on fire moving from UNC G to Cincy.
