Western Carolina softball will have a familiar face in the dugout in the 2020 season Head Coach Jim Clift announced today former Catamount standout Madison Armstrong is trading in her catcher's mask for a clipboard to become the program's new Assistant Coach.
Armstrong will take over for former assistant coach Lindsay Thomas who departed the program in November to play overseas.
"I am very excited to announce Madison Armstrong as my new assistant softball coach," Clift admitted. "Coach Armstrong had an amazing career as a Catamount softball player. She was always that "coach on the field." Her dream has always been to become a college softball coach. My dream was to one day have the chance to coach her. I assumed that the opportunity would be sometime down the road and would depend on good timing. I was hoping when my assistant position became available again, Maddie would not have already been snatched up and would be available and willing. I didn't expect an opportunity to come so soon."
