Probably being looked at by some bigger programs. Sometimes that works out and sometimes it does not. Or he has been offered by a bigger school already. Could be good or it might be a mistake. Good luck to him.

No his issue was about the race problem that is happening on campus. Many current football players i have heard are still not comfortable in the climate that currently exists on campus Probably being looked at by some bigger programs. I take exception to your post. There is nothing racist allowed to be posted on this board, nor has anyone posted anything racist to the best of my knowledge. I don't know why the young man made a decision to not come to Cullowhee. However, there is only a small minority population at WCU and in Jackson County as you may well know. This in it's self could be a deciding factor to some young men and women's decision not to attend WCU. Imagine, if you have schools all over the southeast begging to give you a free ride scholarship, I think we'd all take our time to make the best decision where we think we'd fit in and want to spend the next 4 years. I'd say if he selects a school with a much larger minority population, that could be an indicator that this was a big factor in his decision.

I don't think it's a coincidence that a day after he was named a finalist for the Tennessee Class 6A Mr. Football, that he decided to reopen his recruiting. I think he looking for bigger fish than playing in the FCS or SoCon. But, that's just my opinion.

You misunderstood the point I was making and I should have been more clear in my comment. I by no means meant that there were any racist posts on this board. Quite the contrary. Additionally, WCU handled the video issue earlier in the year promptly and correctly. The coaches were out front and vocal too. I truly believe they are a school, from the top down, that believes in inclusion, diversity, kindness and empathy. My post was targeting the negative posts about football. In retrospect, my post should have said "He probably read some of the negative posts on this forum about the coaches, the players, the play calling, etc. etc., because in my opinion they do not help WCU in recruiting or player retention." WCU is a small school, this is the defacto forum for WCU and thus I am sure prospective players and their parents read this forum.Thank you for the clarification on your original post, it's appreciated. I do agree with the bold part of the above post, and that was one of the reasons I created the "members only" board. I do believe that negativity posted here does impact current and potential players. However, nothing has been said on the board that could not have been read on Facebook, as a matter of fact, I've read much worse on Facebook than here.
