Did the big lineman from the Charlotte area sign with us today. I believe his name is Nathan Linkous. He still says on his twitter account that he is committed to Western, but so far, the only scholarship signees today are Miller DeArmond, Anthony Giansante, Davis Ridings, and Toler Keigley. GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know if he signed but maybe he is a preferred walk-on. Again, I don’t know but that would explain why he was not announced as signing. "Speir and WCU plan to add additional players to its 2021 incoming class in the coming days with both scholarship and preferred walk-ons."

Davis is a great player, and was the leader on defense for the state champion team Prince Avenue, which is located in Athens, Georgia. I think our new set of coaches and our ones that have been on the staff have done a TRMRNDOUS job during the Covid restrictions, bringing us a 2021 class that has a chance to be ranked in the top two recruiting classes in the SoCon for this year. I don't mean to rain on the parade, but we've had highly ranked recruiting classes many times in the past, with no positive results. It's not the kids they bring in, it's the (lack of) coaching. Don’t forget that Speir brings in Freshman Recruits & then redshirts them immediately. The next year they leave the program. Then, we have a young team.

This is the wrong thread -- but the issue is going to be the COVID Mulligan Year for players. Basically, they will be the same football year in 2021 as they were in 2020. So 2020 did not happen on the field but it did in the classroom. This is going to open up some interesting scenarios. You have COVID Mulligan Seniors staying (Grad School?) and some transferring in to play at WCU. You have 2020 COVID Mulligan Freshman who will now be true 2021 Freshman. With the seniors staying (or coming in), you R/S the 2020 kids in 2021 and then they will eventually be R/S Sophomores in their Senior Year of College. That means they graduate with 2 years eligibility and are eligible to practice and play immediately anywhere that will take them in FBS or FCS. So some interesting scenarios indeed starting now... I think you explained what's going to happen the next couple years very well, so, strap into your seat, athletics across the board is going to see unprecedented transfers in and out of program, expecially if the NCAA approves the "no sit out" transfer rule.
