It should be noted with the North Carolina budget standoff that we have not gotten all the money back from NC promise. We are waiting on $4 million from the program/state to come to us.

I read that too. In the attached you will see that the institution only funds 5 percent of the athletic budget. As student fees increase and the catamount club grows in funding, the university reduces their contribution amount.

Those percentages can fool you, they should put dollar amounts on all categories & percentages. 50% of $5 million is a lot different than $50% of $14 or $15 million, we need dollar amounts for those charts to be worth anything, it's just another way to keep the contributors in the dark about finances, but making it look like they are being transparent.

This is the telling statement as to why we have historically and continue to have the lowest or nearly lowest athletic budget in the SoCon.
Student Fees + Institutional Support = 59%
Southern Conference AVERAGE is 70%

And institutional support is only 5% of the 59% which is very telling. The administration is not doing their part.

As has been noted in previous threads over the years, the state of North Carolina limits how much money can be spent on athletics outside of student fees. Personally - I don't know what those limits are, but there are only two SoCon schools in NC. All the other states have fewer restrictions on funding athletics - particularly Tennessee.

That is correct. We will most likely never totally catch those other schools especially, Tennessee schools

NC Promise is not going to deliver to WCU all that the legislation will lead you to believe. You know the old adage, "if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
I'm a skeptic when it comes to putting all your eggs in the state of North Carolina's basket. The folks down in Raleigh always seem to screw things up

I would be curious to see how many current athlete parents are in the Cat Club. Seems like if kids are getting a bunch of aid from the school they could help out in the club even if not getting aid.
