Improve in what sense play teams that are D-1 and on our level that are winnable aka NC A&T, Elon, etc vs SEC that we just won't beat? Out of conference games haven't been the SoCon's strong point over the last decade or so. We've definitely taken on the chin when the SoCon gets criticized for our OOC games and OOC record. Rumor mill over the last 5 or so seasons is that there has been some pressure placed on the SoCon to improve OOC scheduling. The playoff selection committee has all but flat out said the SoCon needs to improve OOC performance too.

No non-D1 games on the football schedule at least through the 2025 season, unless something happens and a game needs to be replaced.

Quick question Jerry -
Why are most of those games not posted on the online schedule? The schedule on the website shows no games for 21, 22 or 23, and only two games in 24 and one game in 25. Also - your schedule shows a return to Richmond KY for EKU in 23, but not a 2nd home game for us. Any info on either of these? THANKS!
As a side observation, with four OOC games in both 2024 and 2025, I would guess those are both 12 game seasons according to the NCAA.

For some season WCU does not like to keep the fans informed. They only post the game that have been officially announced by the university. Why the other games have not been announced is anyone's guess. We play EKU at home in 2021 and at EKU in 2023 - for the home and home. 2024 & 2025 will be 12 game seasons.

We play in Richmond KY this year, and in Cullowhee next year. But then we are on the road at EKU in 2023 as well? That's 2 away and one at home.

The why is more that we have such limited staff within athletics. We also, as an organization, don't do a good job managing an overall Marketing/PR/Communications strategy. Again, limited resources at play here and IMHO a lack of an overall organizational strategic plan for marketing/PR/communications. It's a shame that other departments, like the journalism or marketing departments, don't work more closely with athletics and the university admin to help create content, manage content and its delivery.

May, 1st, our new AD Alex Gary is starting his position as our new AD. I think that he will be more of a leader in public relations than we have had a several years.
1: The AD will make sure that information will be sent out with the new rosters for 2020-2021 teams, both men and women's teams.
2: The names and short bio. on the new recruits for all of our sports:
3: A virtual tour of our athletic facilities, and a tour of planned enhancements of our facilities:
4: Interviews put on with our new coaches(head coaches, assistant coaches etc.) that have not been made available to the supporters so far:
5: I think that Alex will consider communications like this and many more ways that I have not even thought about, and we will be excited about our athletic programs and quickly get involved again.
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob, let's hope he has more luck than Randy did with the communications/journalism department. Randy and I talked about getting the communications majors involved several time. The department head wasn't interesting in doing anything with the athletic department. That is a real shame because it's something that could have benefited both the university and the students!
