Good find but we won't get him That certainly is the understatement of the year. Except I din't think he'd a "good find" as everybody has already offered the kid a scholarship. Obviously every between Florida and New Jersey knows where he plays football. Why would the coaches waste time on this talented young man? WCU as zero chance of having him in a Catamount uniform when the 2021 football season starts.

A quick look at last year's roster lists 51 players (out of 97) from all across NC from Wilmington to Murphy and most regions in between. And we have starred players from NC in each of the last two recruiting years.

How many of those "starred player from NC" were 4 star recruits with 25 FBS offers, of which 17 was from power 5 schools as a junior?

Today, Western Carolina offered Joshua Burrell, a 3 or 4 star (depending on the service) wide receiver from Blythewood, SC. That would be a good pickup for the Cats. The only problem with this offer is that he already has offers from Florida State, Ga Tech, Louisville, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia State, Indiana, Kansas State, NC State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, University of South Florida, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and App State. He's still well over a year away from graduation (2021). Is this the players you guys think the coaching staff at WCU should be going after? I'm sure their time was well spent on this kid. I’d say he will never step foot in cullowhee. The only way I could see him coming and it’s a stretch is if David and Dequan Patten have ties to him locally in Columbia or something like that. That may be a stretch, but there has to be some reason we keep going after this kid with those kinds of offers from power 5 schools.

Its funny how quickly the subject of WNC kids faded in the thread.
I brought this subject up as well a month or so ago.

I've heard that gripe back to when Coach Waters was the HC, particularly in Sylva when I attended WCU. I look back through newspapers for the past 40+ years and I see names like Otis McIntosh, Dewayne Norman, Ty Smith, Mike Pusey, Eddie West, Todd Cottrell, Todd Harkins, Josh Brooks, Zach Jaynes, Nathan Dalton, Zack Weeks and now Caleb Ferguson. Obviously we get a lot of players from WNC. How many got scholarship offers- that is the real question?
I believe and I think the facts would bear me out, that WCU historically has tried not to offer local (mountain) players because they think that they can get them on the cheap by having them walk on.
