OH now, now. WCU is certainly interested in fielding a competitive football program! WCU simply is not DEDICATED to doing so. I think that's the problem. We have a lot of leadership that express the mere interest in getting a good football program established, but lack the dedication, drive, fortitude, perseverance, and vision to follow through on that interest. Maybe that will change and WAS on the verge of changing, then this thing called Covid-19 hit and who knows what will or could have been accomplished in the coming 3-5 years. Now, because of Covid-19, all those hopes and ideas could very well be delayed another 10 years. I hope not, but who knows what financial ramifications this thing will have on WCU and WCU athletics. It's throwing even the big SEC schools into a fit of uncertainty right now.

Here's some more hurt. If it weren't for VMI and El Cid, the Cats would be holding down last place. This definitely puts Catamount athletics in the bottom third of both men's and women's sports in the SoCon.
Commissioner’s Cup (through spring sports) (Men’s athletics)
1. ETSU .889 2. Furman .829 3. Wofford .739 4. Samford .729 5. Mercer .593 6. UNCG .589 7. Chattanooga .529 8. Western Carolina .467 9. The Citadel .403 10. VMI .386
Germann Cup (through spring sports) (Women’s athletics)
1. Furman .904 2. Samford .901 3. ETSU .796 4. Mercer .735 5. UNCG .633 6. Chattanooga .628 7. Wofford .598 8. Western Carolina .529 9. VMI .206 10. The Citadel .181

If you have the stats for just football the last 3 yrs as you presented all sports it would be interesting. Not cumulative but year by year.

If you have the stats for just football the last 3 yrs as you presented all sports it would be interesting. Not cumulative but year by year. That's easy if this is what you were asking for. 2019 Football Standings
Wofford (7-1) 8-4 Furman (6-2) 8-5 Chattanooga (5-3) 6-6 The Citadel (4-4) 6-6 Samford (4-4) 5-7 VMI (4-4) 5-7 Mercer (3-5) 4-8 Western Carolina (2-6) 3-9
ETSU (1-7) 3-8 2018 Football Standings
Wofford (6-2) 9-4 ETSU (6-2) 8-4 Furman (6-2) 6-4 Samford (5-3) 6-5 Chattanooga (4-4) 6-5 Mercer (4-4) 5-6 The Citadel (4-4) 5-6 Western Carolina (1-7) 3-8
VMI (0-8) 1-10 2017 Football Standings
Wofford (7-1) 10-3 Samford (6-2) 8-4 Furman (6-3) 8-5 Western Carolina (5-3) 7-5
Mercer (4-4) 5-6 The Citadel (3-5) 5-6 Chattanooga (3-5) 3-8 ETSU (2-6) 4-7 VMI (0-8) 0-11

Not sure if ETSU’s 2018 wasn’t just some kind of magic - they easily could have been 4-8 with so many close games. But if you look cumulative over the last 3 seasons:
Wofford 27-11 Furman 22-14 Samford 19-16 Citadel 16-18 Chatty 15-19 ETSU 15-19 Mercer 14-20 WCU 13-22 VMI 6-28
No wonder the SoCon isn’t getting a lot of love - that is a whole bunch of losses. It also doesn’t look massively different from our #4 - #8 teams in total wins/winning percentage. Of course we got more than 1/2 of our wins in 1 of the seasons (just like ETSU).
