Is it that simple a fix? How much could a new media stand cost??

Most of what makes it horrible is our antiquated video equipment and the sun shining into the camera during the game. Unless you mean all telecast on ESPN+. I don’t personally mind paying for it based on how many games I can watch on Saturday. If I'm not mistaken, our video equipment was purchased at the same time the video equipment for most of the other SoCon schools was purchased, out of the funds from the departure of ASU, GSU, Davidson, & Elon. Our main camera is set up from the eastern stands. looking right into the sun in the afternoon and evening which gives off a shiny blare from the field. Maybe is will be a little better this season with new turf, however until a new media stand is build on the western side their is going to be "sun" related problems. Good to know. I was not aware we had new A/V equipment. Thank you

This is much less an ESPN+ problem and more a problem as already covered many times. If we have the same equipment, same producers, same on-air talent, etc. moving to ESPN3 or CBS Sports Network, or any other service won’t make a difference unless that entity brings stuff in and does a production with new locations for cameras. I watch a lot of other FCS games on ESPN+ and many look and feel a whole lot better than Western’s.
Now complaining about having to pay for it is another conversation, but unless we can move the cameras don’t expect a vastly different level of video quality. Personally I only pay for August through November for FCS football season and then I cancel every year.

I was actually considering going up for the game with a 3 pm Saturday start. I used to have family in Richmond and have fond memories of there. This change wipes that out.

They don't want to compete with the Kentucky Derby. Western Kentuck did the same thing with Chattanooga, even UK changed their game to Thursday.

What do folks think the score will be? I am concerned that in years past, our coaches have only focused on the first opponent the last week of preseason and focused on “fundamentals” the other 4 weeks. Last year against Mercer, it was obvious that they spent a lot more time focusing on us in the preseason. If we do not change that strategy, I think we lose 35-10.

I think we will be "crushed" by a real team. It will be ugly - 30+ point loss. As usual, the team will NOT be ready to play, some good players but no one knows how to coach them and prepare for game day. Too bad, more of the same.

If that happens, we will probably lose to GW again and Western will have to buy another coaches salary out to the tune of 5 years. It is a win/win for Speir. He will walk away with a fat check and we will be back to square one as usual. Speir will then get a job as an assistant somewhere. Maybe App or Louisville. It would be funny if it was not happening to Western. If we choose not to buy him out, then we continue the downward spiral. There is no upside to Western in any of this. We are screwed if Speir is fired or if he is retained.

Had it not been for folks like you, we would not be in the "no upside to Western in any of this" position right now.

I still hope we turn it around but it is becoming obvious that the coaches can recruit but no coach them up. I do not take any responsibility for the situation Western is in. This is a Randy Eaton and an interim chancellor problem and they are gone.
