I wonder when the SoCon will make their decision on Fall football. The ACC and SEC announced yesterday. We're getting down to crunch time for a decision. My hunch is it's a go for the Fall. Hope so, my tickets are purchased!!
GO CATS!!

I think so long as the ACC and SEC stay the course the SoCon will follow their lead. It seems like a convenient year to have Liberty on the non con schedule as they can’t go conference only.

The shocker is the SEC not following the ACC’s lead. Now Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and FSU have to find an in-state game to replace those rivalry games. It will at least open the door for G5 and FCS schools to land some ACC money games. In NC, UNC, Duke, NC State, and Wake need opponents for the one OOC game. I expect those teams to probably look at App, ECU, and Charlotte before they look at FCS teams, though.
Of course the SoCon could also choose a conference-only approach, too. But I’d bet they hold out to see if some money games can be landed first. If Clemson can’t play USC, Furman or Wofford or Citadel would seem like real possibilities to land that game given the relatively limited D1 options in SC. Clemson has played those schools and has some history over playing say Coastal Carolina.

ACC also announced Friday no marching bands allowed on the field. Will the POM band be at games this year if they must remain in the stands? May only get a small pep band if not allowed on the field. If bands are kept off the field in the SoCon would that also apply to the Citadel and VMI corps of cadets marching in prior to games. Never been to VMI but always enjoyed the pageantry of that at The Citadel.

Seriously though I’m sure if any spectators are allowed then the band will have an allotment as well as regular students. I could see them trimming the band down depending on the demand for tickets. They would certainly have to spread out in the stands.

Reminds me of the person I saw inside his car this week - wearing a mask - alone.

I think the tide is flowing in the wrong direction to play fall football. There is already a movement to play the NCAA championship in the Spring, and with less than 50% of the teams still on schedule for fall football, the NCAA championship will be postponed, if not canceled.

Or more to the point - the SoCon will wait until next week to see if anybody else is playing and have the decision made for them :-)
