Scott and Walker, area blocked off and appears all window and screens have been removed. I would think the only way to tear down these buildings are explosives. Don’t understand why they weren’t blowup during the summer when the school traffic was low

I'm guessing the contractor (Vannoy) couldn't move up the scheduled demolition (though I don't know why they didn't plan for at least late May originally).
If they implode, I'd love to watch that. Wrecking ball will be boring in comparison.

They remodeled Harrill but I think its just not cost effēctive. Kids now don't want communal living like that. Imagine running AC to Scott. It's brick, which holds heat and its exposed with no shade. There was a reason Scott Beach could open up as early as February.
I imagine they would need electrical upgrades, etc. There may even be asbestos present. App made the same decision for some of those dorms across the parking lot from KBS.

App made the same decision for some of those dorms across the parking lot from KBS. I agree with most of what you say. I moved into Harrell the day it opened (January 1972). Harrell and Walker were the first dorms on campus to have a "quad" style living setup. Two rooms to one "suite" and a bathroom shared by two suites or four rooms and EIGHT people. Better than the communal bathrooms in the older dorms I suppose. The buildings are brick faced, but are concrete block construction. CBS is not as hot as pure brick. I was rarely uncomfortable in the room - except during the winter we'd be too hot on the top floor from all the heat rising. You are also right in the upgrades for electricity and IT stuff. I guess it has survived with WiFi, but wiring those buildings would be tough.
