I don't intend to try and censure speech on this board about COVID-19, like Twitter and Facebook does.
I do have my own opinions about the virus; what it is called; wearing of face masks; and when/should children return to the classroom. Also, I know that most of you don't care about my opinion on those topics, so I don't plan to share them with you.
I do however request, that for those of you that feel the need to educate the rest of us about anything related to COVID-19, that you do it here on this thread. That way, those that want an education can come here and read up, and for those of us that already know everything, we can simply ignore this thread without getting upset by something somebody said that we disagree with.
Just to caution you, if you make a post and it contains opinions about a COVID-19 related topic, or even facts about the virus, or when and if we should go back to work, I will probably move that post to this thread, so all the educational material is in one place for those that want to partake.
Thanks for your cooperation.

That does not include the same number of pneumonia deaths or people that are asthmatic that die during flu and pneumonia seasons WERE SUDDENLY CHICKEN CRAP IN THE USA THANK GOD THE GREATEST GENERATION LANDED AT NORMANDY You need to get some help for your anger. Fact. The virus is real and it is more contagious than the flu. Fact. Once we get a vaccine readily available, things will return to normal. Fact. This virus is not going away without a vaccine. Fact. Going forward next year, we will all have to get our flu shots and COVID shots each year. Fact COVID-19 is about 6 to 8 times more contagious than the flu. Fact. The reason it is so widespread is because we did not lock down long enough because people care more about the economy than people’s health. Go ahead and fact check away. Please stop sharing crazy conspiracy theories that are not based in fact. This belongs in the COVID educational thread with all the educational stuff.🤣🤣🤣

Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be. Some of the nation’s leading public health experts are raising a new concern in the endless debate over coronavirus testing in the United States: The standard tests are diagnosing huge numbers of people who may be carrying relatively insignificant amounts of the virus. Most of these people are not likely to be contagious, and identifying them may contribute to bottlenecks that prevent those who are contagious from being found in time. But researchers say the solution is not to test less, or to skip testing people without symptoms, as recently suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Instead, new data underscore the need for more widespread use of rapid tests, even if they are less sensitive. “The decision not to test asymptomatic people is just really backward,” said Dr. Michael Mina, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, referring to the C.D.C. recommendation. www.nytimes.com/2020/08/29/health/coronavirus-testing.html

A COVID-19 cluster including 17 residents of Harrill Hall has been identified at Western Carolina University. All positive individuals are following isolation orders, and the investigation is ongoing. There are currently 301 students assigned to Harrill, including the 17. However, students who have tested positive are not living in Harrill while they are in isolation.

Many colleges have reported many more cases than Western so far this year and now we are starting to see it at Western. Hopefully they will get it under control by quarantining and contact tracing. With a virus 8 times more contagious than the flu, it is amazing that it has taken this long. I think the leadership at Western has done a good job so far containing the virus. I hope and pray no one dies.

flcatamount said, "Once we get a vaccine readily available, things will return to normal." I don't believe a large number of people will even take the vacccine. whenever one is developed and approved. This whole pandemic crap has become so politicized that no one trusts anything that any "authority" says about it. And, long ago, we ceased believing anything the main stream media puts out.
flcatamount said, "Going forward next year, we will all have to get our flu shots and COVID shots each year." No, we don't HAVE TO GET ANY SHOTS. We can be encouraged to take the flu shot or COVID shot, but not forced. Once people become convinced that it is beneficial to take the vaccine (whatever kind of vaccine it is), then they will take it.
