-Officials jurisdiction has been extended by 30 minutes- from 60 minutes prior to kick off to 90 minutes. -A player can remain in the team area even after being disqualified for targeting. -For jerseys and numbering, “0” has now been made legal, however no more than 2 team members can wear the same jersey number. -On a kicking play from the line of scrimmage, rather than the one second before contact can be made on the center rule, defenders cannot align over the center. -If a replay at the end of a half determines that there was time still left on the clock when the ball should’ve been dead, and time remaining was determined to be less than 3 seconds, the half is ended. This does not effect incomplete passes and runners out of bounds. -Along these same lines, the expectation is that Instant Replay will not be more than 2 minutes unless the decision has end of game impacts.
The following rule changes are the result of COVID adjustments.
-Team boxes are expanded from the 25 yard lines to the 15 yard lines creating additional space to allow for social distancing. -Coin toss is now limited to one player representative from each team with the officials. -If teams choose to wear medical masks, there can be no design, insignia or slogans and must be team colors. -Commemorative patches no larger than 2 ¼ inches may be placed on the front or sleeve of uniform. This rule change comes in wake of social justice movements.
