From the SoCon release -
"The Citadel played four fall contests, which means it can only play seven spring games to avoid exceeding the NCAA-mandated 11-game regular-season maximum. The SoCon Council of Presidents approved a plan for the Bulldogs to compete in seven league games with one no-contest against a randomly selected league opponent. Furman was selected as that opponent in a blind draw. The no-contest is a game not played and will be considered a forfeit in the conference standings only, per NCAA policies.

Now the Citadel fans are crying about not getting to compete for a league championship, since they get to play only 7 conference games. Well..... I guess NO ONE in Charleston knows how to count. They knew before the season, this was an eleven game season. They also know that the conference season is 8 games. So logic lets everyone else in the conference to know, 8 games subtracted from 11 total games, gives you a maximum of 3 games in the fall.
Just because the NCAA would let ALL FCS teams play 4 games in the fall, didn't mean this suddenly became a 12 game season. The NCAA allowed all FCS teams to play up-to-four games in the fall. The rest of the SoCon schools were smart enough to realize, if we play 4 now, we'll be in trouble come the conference season.
But not El Cid. Hell, they'll give us a waiver, they said we could play 4 games, and we played 4 games. Dumb ass.

So, what happens when we go 7-0? Are we still ineligible? What a crock. Saw a Chatanooga story that says The Citadel was "strongly encouraged" to not play 4 games. By whom? This about seems like a law suit. Can't imagine the NCAA wouldn't give a twelve game waiver after saying that FCS could play four games. Absolutely unbelievable, and interesting that all in the conference voted that way. Seems like some are pretty wary of the Dogs . .
