A big surprise in SoCon action today as Storm Murphy posted 16 points to lead Wofford in an upset over Mercer 78-65 in Macon, GA. Ryan Larson added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Terriers and Tray Hollowell added 13 points. Mercer's Ross Cummings scored 21 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Leon Ayers III added 15 points and six rebounds.

Despite the unexpected return of David Jean-Baptiste to the Mocs roster, and his 18 points off the bench, the Paladins pulled off the road win in the Round House by a 77-73 margin. Despite the Mocs 13 made 3 pointers, they could not pull out the win in the final two-minutes (they had the opportunities), and fall to 9-1 on the season.

There are five games scheduled for Saturday, with all teams scheduled for action, unless COVID-19 interferes. Not sure of the status of the Citadel for Saturday, since they missed the Wednesday night scheduled game with UNCG. So, right now, four teams have one win (Furman, Samford, Wofford, & ETSU), four teams have one loss (WCU, Chattanooga, Mercer, and VMI) and two that have not played a conference game.

While the Cats sit out the weekend, VMI pulls off the upset of the season thus far, knocking off the Mocs in Lexington to break Chattanooga's 7 game road win streak. The Keydets led most of the 3d half, holding on the last 4 minutes to win, 84-79. VMI was hot with the 3-pointers, hitting almost 60% of their attempts. Jean-Baptiste came off the bench for the Mocs leading all scorers with 29 points.

Jean-Baptiste came off the bench for the Mocs leading all scorers with 29 points. The next big upset of the day has the Bucs handling the Spartans in the Greensboro Coliseum, winning by 10 points. Samford played exceptionally well against the Terriers (neither team played much defense) as Wofford pulled off a 10 point win over the surprising Bulldogs in Spartanburg. The Bears also looked good against the Paladins in Travelers Rest, coming within 3 points of a win. |

Only four games tonight with the Catamounts and Paladins sitting this one out due to Covid-19. The undefeated Citadel Bulldogs open league play by visiting Macon to face the Bears, in a tough opening game for the Bulldogs. Samford visits Chattanooga for a shot to make it 3 losses in a row for the Mocs, after their 9-0 out of conference run. UNCG is licking their wounds after a big loss to ETSU on Saturday, and hope to take down the Terriers who have won two conference games. VMI travels to Johnson City after their surprising win over Chattanooga, hoping to make it two in a row, but the Bucs will be ready.
