The Bulldogs are opening there season against the Catamounts, while WCU is coming off a 4 game series against Towson of the CAA. The Bulldogs were 5-11 in a COVID-19 shorten season last baseball season. The Asheville baseball team was picked to finish ninth in the Big South preseason poll. Offensively, Asheville returns 2019 All-Big South First Team honoree Brandon Lankford. Lankford needs just eight more home runs to become the program's all-time home run leader. On the mound, the Bulldogs return Ryan Douglas, who posted a 1-2 record with a 2.74 ERA in 23 innings pitched as a freshman last spring, and lefthander Jacob Edwards, who struck out 21 hitters in 23 innings to go along with a .207 opponent's batting average. |

For all you folks that thought the Cats were back because of the series sweep of Towson, think again. This team can't hold it's own against the last place Asheville team from the Big South. It's getting pitiful in Cullowhee.

Going into the bottom of the 3d, Asheville scores 3 more in the top, now its 8-4 UNCA.

It's getting pitiful in Cullowhee. Western, the moment UNCA started to hit Western’s young pitcher, Coach Mo should have pulled him. You should never let your opponent get a 5 run lead before making a change. This is typical Coach Mo’s MO during this time of the season. He does this every year. UNCA is trying to win the game while Western is trying to evaluate the young pitcher at the expense of the entire team. |

UNCA has owned Catamount baseball since 2015. That's 6 losses in 7 games to the Bulldogs.
Moranda has a 9-10 record vs. UNCA, a program that plays baseball on a less than a shoe-string budget.
This is another pitiful aspect of Catamount athletics that the AD will not bother to take control of. Everyone on in the Athletic Program is fat, dumb, and happy, as is the AD and the BOT.
No one is Cullowhee cares about winning.
