Anyone know the protocol on who makes the call to cancel a Conference game? Pretty sure it wasn't WCU. Weather looked clear starting around 2:00 and they play on turf so i am not sure why they couldn't play today. Since a team does not automatically qualify for the Conference Tournament much more care needs to be taking before cancelling a conference game and the decision should not be made unilaterally by 1 team (unless they want to take the loss). Just my opinion. Given the forecast for Johnson Jity.... I don't know why they aren't playing right now......

With Wofford and Mercer both winning today, not playing ETSU and winning hurts

With Wofford and Mercer both winning today, not playing ETSU and winning hurts Correct. If WCU didn't play just because ETSU call it off (I'm am not saying that occurred and that is why I would like to know the protocol) then I think WCU should get the win and ETSU take the loss.

Moranda wanted to play. Not playing was ETSU’s choice and we had NO say. From what I heard our boys were willing to stay as long as possible. I had family that’ stayed back because they had already reserved their hotel room and they said sun came out and never rained again and ended up being warmer than previous day. I feel cancellations should be mutual with Socon approval. My personal opinion is ETSU backed out to help their status. They didn’t want to take a chance at a possible loss. They were missing their best hitter and I think one other starter and for that reason made the call to not play. I HOPE the SoCon would force a forfeiture for that horrible decision to not play. It is a ALL turf field and they had plenty of time to see what the weather would do. By the forecast they KNEW it would be ok so they called it off while it was raining on purpose. That’s my opinion.

I agree. If my understanding of how these two divisions will work come tournament time, the two division winners and the two top teams (by wins regardless of division) will go to the SoCon tournament. So, if we are not the red division winner, not playing games (and winning) could cause the Cats to miss the tournament just by the sheer number of games we've missed at the end of the season. Along with the ETSU game canceled, we also had a game with the Citadel canceled, so that's two games lost and will not be made up.

So, are you telling me that Coach Mo canceled the 3rd home game with the Citadel? As far as ETSU game is concerned, if I was Coach Mo I would issue a formal protest to the SoCon Commissioner stating that WCU was willing to play the game and was prepared to stay as long as it would take to play the game. This was a sucking move made by a redneck Coach at ETSU.

Right now I think WCU would have to sweep Mercer & Wofford to win their division. Also can not overlook the Citadel. Western has contributed to their situation because of not playing 3 games at Mercer & letting the Citadel get away without playing the 3rd game.

There is no doubt that missing those two games could hurt us in the final analysis. I'm not sure any other team has had two conference games canceled.

If we were Ohio State they would just change the conference rules for us
