In my opinion, I hope the SoCon does not go to this model. I read all of the Alabama and Oklahoma fans complaining about playing Western Carolina and talking about Western is not worthy to be on the field with their teams and how it is an insult to have to play WCU and I can’t believe how arrogant and misinformed they are. We need those money games to pay the bills and there are many D2 teams that need whatever we pay to pay there bills. People like Nick Saban understand this and are throwing us a bone. We should do the same for our D2 brethren. In fact, I would like it if the NCAA would mandate that all D1 teams must play at least one FCS or D2 team every year. Spread the wealth.

Funny thing how FCS schools are now taking the same attitude towards playing D2 and lower divisions when the vast majority of FCS programs depend on the big payouts from FBS games. Some folks want their cake and to eat it too.

Some folks want their cake and to eat it too. I agree. However, in the case of the OVC, I think the reason they took this road is because of the loss of JSU and EKU to the ASun. To me, it would appear this move is designed to strengthen the schedules of the remaining teams and maybe even attract football schools to the conference. The loss of JSU and EKU to the OVC was like the SoCon when we lost ASU & GSU, that's a big hit to rebound from.

It seems like every time there is a conference shakeup that rumor starts making the rounds.

I'm sure the OVC would love to have UTC, however, the ASUN has made no secret of their desire that the Mocs join them in their new football conference. I don't don't think that UTC would have any interest in the OVC, since JSU has departed.
