Fcs schools will be starved out It’s going to be interesting to see who survives IMO, for all of the power 5 schools, that 12th game is a big money maker, playing either a G5 team or FCS team. Not only is it a moneymaker for the school, but it's also buying a win for the home team, 99.9% of the time. While Alabama and Clemson can afford to go with only 11 games a season (plus the playoff games they will be in), the majority of the power conference teams would then only be playing 11 games and a bowl game - they will NOT be so willing to give up that 12th game (at home) just to appease Alabama & Clemson and a few others. Money talks, and a home game for power 5 teams = big money.

Honestly, when they start talking about "for the good of the kids" it becomes laughable. That used to be the talking point about not having an FBS playoff even though FCS has played one for decades that was still completed with 15 games and before the bowl season ends. But when money was on the table, the big conferences (and now even the G5 ones) went to a conference championship game. And then when there were millions to be made, the P5 guys gladly jumped into the ''playoffs" that gave them the same 15 games. What happened to the kids when they added those???
With the talk of Oklahoma and Texas wanting to merge into the SEC to create a super-conference and a move to 12 playoff spots, it would seem it is now pretty inevitable that football schools at that level are going to break-off from the NCAA all-together. It will be back to a D1 and D1-AA (just with new names), and it is going to be really interesting to see who lands where. Will schools like Vandy and Rutgers lose out, but schools like UCF move "up"? Similarly, will WCU be able to stay in the same kind of second-tier we are in now, or will there be a huge divide where top-FCS schools go into the new G5 and the others fall into a bigger D2 level?
No doubt if that super-conference model happens those huge paydays for WCU are going to dry up. We will be playing teams from what is now the G5 type tier and the "big boys" will just be playing themselves in what will be the equivalent of a mini-NFL - they won't have to go undefeated to make the playoffs so they will play bigger games in my opinion because they will say it is what the people want (when in reality it will mean big TV money to play other big-time opponents for your OOC games).
it is all about the money - always will be at that top tier.
