EKU has a few inches of height on us on pretty much every position. That's the first thing that stands out to me. If we go pass heavy, then I guess it will be all about being open and not having to out reach or jump their DB's. Patton proved he could do it all day long.

What jumped out at me is even though there are so many new faces for the Cats, this is certainly not the "young team" we have been putting on the field. Granted many of these guys got their experience somewhere else, but I am hoping it means there is less on the job training and a lot more refining, adjusting, and using all of the playbook. Especially with some of the guys knowing the offense from previous stops and even a few who were connected to our D-Line coach.
I was surprised to not see Mikai Stanley at least as an -OR- on the depth chart at RB. And I also expect to see a ton of rotation for those WRs. Calvin Jones is a guy I think can do some really good things for us on offense and special teams.
And I have no problem with a few FR starting on defense. Overall the D looks a little bigger, but with only 3 DL we still seem undersized up-front. It is a big shakeup from the past few seasons, and we all have to trust that with the limited number of practices Coach Bell has simply gone for the best guys he can put out there to make us as competitive as we can be.

Plenty to talk about here, I guess. True freshman at safety! Brand new kid from Eastern Michigan already at 2 at LG. Where's Raekwon Heath, Curtis Roach? Curtis had pneumonia last week and missed most of the week’s practice. I’m hopeful he feels well enough to get on some special teams. Thanks for asking.

I am sure Coach Bell is putting what he thinks are the best players to give us a chance to win. I am also just as sure that the last coaching regime put what they thought were the best players on the field to give us a chance to win. Not doing that would be contrary to human nature and self preservation. I was at both scrimmages and to my untrained eyes, Tyree and Makai were the 2 best backs when it came to getting yards after being hit, etc., but what do I know. I am sure the coaches are looking at blocking, running and receiving and the 2 they picked for the 2 deep give us the best chance to win. I hope we improve over the last time we played EKU. I hope for a win but with this being the first game, it could be a loss. Whatever happens, I will be back for the next home game.

I didn't see the last scrimmage, but I saw the stats that Williams put up. So there is a really good chance that Williams is our best WR. But like I said in my earlier post, with this kind of offense expect lots of rotation of WRs to keep them fresh. I would expect at least one guy going deep on every play if for nothing else to keep the defense honest. That guy will roll off and another WR will come in. So the receiving corp is probably more about the top 5 or 6 than it is the "listed" 3 starters.

I'm wondering why D. Patten at WR is second string? injury?? He didn’t see the field too much in the spring, so I hope he goes out with a bang
