wcuecu2010 is right on. Changing culture and winning comes through a progression. Better coaches with an actual plan and the ability to adjust had to happen first. Learning the system and becoming competitive happens next. Learning to make big plays or cutting mistakes out and finding a way to win close games is next. Then confidence builds to where you start expecting to win is that last step where all teams want to be.
To steal from Nick Saban, it is a process. We are at that stage where they have to learn how to get over the hump to win these games. And that is a heckuva lot better stage than the past few seasons!

I just hope the team is not getting down about the what if's and should have wons. I know many of those players are tired of losing

The head coach just got here and he has us playing much better and you are expecting that we are going to win immediately. The glass is now half full. With the previous coaches the glass was empty with no chance of anything to fill it with. If we don’t win a game this year, I don’t care. We are competitive and the wins will come. Would you be happier if EKU and Samford blew us out like they did the last time we played?

No i hate the losses but I am glad they were close. I just don't want the kids to think that all this talk about change in culture still has them losing games and they want to leave, it hurts recruiting or they just stop trying

Change of culture and coaches either has them buying in or not. My gut is that the ones who didn't buy into the new system/culture have departed or will not see much PT. This coach has been clear that you must earn your right to play - and if he is being fair (and I have no reason to doubt that), then those giving effort and accomplishment will be playing - and playing to win.

After finally watching the game in its entirety, we just need to get a bit more consistent on the offense side. Wells had some interceptions that I'm sure he'd like to have back and hopefully he and the receivers will get in more sync and clean those things up. Williams played lights out, but teams will pick up on him on film and hopefully that will mean Wells can use other options if they "pick" on Williams too much. Defense looked brilliant a lot of times during this game, but as always with an aggressive defense, sometimes they let those big plays happen. I can't really complain about the defense though, because they played a lot of minutes and never backed down. Tackling is MUCH improved over teams of past years overall. I really do think if they can just get that loss monkey off their back and get a solid win, they will go far, even this year. I do feel that every team in the conference now knows this is a completely different WCU team this year.
Another observation is we are holding on to the ball more time of possession wise. Which will pay off later if we keep that up. This team is light years more fun to watch than teams of prior years, and they will just get better with time and experience. I really, really hope Bell and coaches keep at it and gets this team to gel. If they do, then we'll have us a very nice product on the field. Don't get me wrong, the product I've seen so far is great considering the hole we were in and all the adversity they have faced so far.

I was at the Game and endured the rain. The defense looked exciting in the second half but eventually got wore out. I feel like if we up our conditioning slightly and keep the pressure on the quarterback then we could be a team to reckon with. One thing that I did not like about the defense as we play way too much zone. We need to man up more often. The quarterbacks are just finding the gaps on the defense. In terms of office it does appear that Rogan is beginning to settle in. He still make some mistakes as a lot of quarterbacks do at this level however he is showing some promise. Hopefully this next game will show how much he can do.
