The boys looked good again tonight. Pitching will be much improved in my opinion. Matthews hasn't thrown all fall and our arms have been good. Transfer Clay Cox will miss the year after surgery but will have 2 years left after a medical RS. Our bats are going to continue to get better. A couple of the juco kids can flat out rake. Tonight's opponent was in way over their head but it was nice to see us do our thing like you are supposed to do. We played very well vs Louisville and expect us to do the same next Sunday in Athens vs Georgia.

Will add more of my observations when I get home this afternoon and comfortably use my keyboard. Thanx to twandswr1 for his post earlier. We are on the same page in our thinking.

Ahhh.... keys to fit my fat fingers....
Last night's scrimmage was near-game circumstances. Lineups were flexible, fluid and expandable. We used 2 DH's (Tom Brosnahan - C and Daniel Walsh - INF) for the first couple of times through the batting order. Then, as lineup changes were made, the new players went to the field + entered the batting order; however, the player removed defensively continued in the batting order offensively. In addition, there were a couple of new batters added that never went to the field. But the purpose was served... to evaluate the players in game conditions.
The Ontario Blue Jay were over-matched, as mentioned earlier. They were physically smaller than WCU which made me wonder if some of them are still high schoolers. Their lackluster performance may have also been due to fatigue. I went to their Twitter feed and saw that in the previous 6 consecutive days before coming to Cullowhee, they had played Va Tech, UVa, Radford, Davidson, UNC-C and UNC-G. Don't know what stops they were going to make along the way, but their last stop was going to be in Florida. Guess they get to rest on the bus.
My first wife and I were taking a few days off cruising in WNC (she has been involved in a very stressful situation for a couple of weeks non-stop). She had a choice of going with me to the game or staying in the motel room. She especially enjoyed watching the players dancing around to the music between innings and during the walk-up music. Her favorite player is #34 Drew Needham.
We left when the score was 22-4 but I think they might have played a couple of more innings. She was still getting cold, even though I had gone to the car to get her coat about 8:00 pm (she is a "kept woman".)
BTW, the parking deck being built on the baseball parking lot is nearing completion. Portions of it are open for use.
BTW 2, the Baseball Roster posted on Catamountsports.com is not correct. They have made a ton of jersey number changes and they took new headshots this past week which should, hopefully, be uploaded this coming week. They wore their new purple pinstripe u-nies last night. I think they look sharp. My observations and OPINIONS will follow in separate posts. If you don't like my opinions, just stop reading. I don't want to get into a back-and-forth with anyone.

Thanks for the feedback on the game, SCCat66
I'm sure it was enjoyable to watch. I don't guess you want to make any predictions about the upcoming season?
