That's three consecutive international recruits for tennis. I've often wondered why we don't recruit more local student-athletes in the non-high-profile sports and give NC and WNC kids a chance to compete at the collegiate level? I mean, if we were ruling the SoCon in these sports, I would get it. Maybe it helps with overall international diversity goals for the entire student-body? Not being critical...just wondering.

It’s the coaches. We had a coaching change and had all US and some NC players. We were competitive too. With a new coach, it changed again.

You've got to remind me just when we were competitive in women's tennis with NC players? The last coach here seriously turned things around - record breaking in the book, the game, and academics. Was the first coach for winning season since the late 90s, the top 5 or 6 players holding all time records are his players, players defeated ranked players in their matches - including SoCon school players, and his players received a few SoCon player of the week, player of the month, and a few on the SoCon 2nd and all conference team - including NC players. A first for our tennis. Should have received a coach award because it was always a steady upward. Player from Cary NC just graduated the year of COVID was his player, received the national tennis award for college students, the SoCon commissions award, broke school record for most singles and doubles wins, beat Chatt’s player in SoCon play. NC players are competitive, have to show interest and recruit. Had a great player of his from Ga. I think there are two of his players left on this years team.

You put out a few individual stats and then call WCU tennis competitive under a prior coach, so let's look at the record of WCU tennis. The current coach is in his third season, so lets look back on prior seasons. In the 5 seasons between 2013 and 2018, the tennis team won a total of three (3) SoCon matches (yes a total of 3), while they lost a total of 36 SoCon matches over that same time frame. Yes, those were record breaking seasons, but not the good records were broke. These statistics make Speir's tenure in football look good. (2017-18) 8-11 overall, 2-5 SoCon (2016-17) 12-14 overall, 0-7 SoCon (2015-16) 13-10 overall, 0-7 SoCon (2014-15) 7-15 overall, 1-7 SoCon (2013-14) 2-18-1 overall, 0-10 SoCon there's more of the same if you want to look up the earlier seasons. I don't give a cow's butt where the players come from - if they win. If they lose, it doesn't matter either, however, I think the NC players have had their opportunity and didn't make the grade.

I forgot to add, the current team is 9-6 overall this season and looking pretty good, I guess we will see how the SoCon season goes.
