I don’t know but I like it when they use Mathew’s as a long reliever. I like our chances tomorrow because Zebby has rested for over a week now. I like that to. However, we need to pitch our best pitcher against Wofford’s hitters. Really don’t think we have 2nd line pitchers that can hold off Wofford’s hitters long enough to keep from having to use Gabby as a reliever until the last couple of innings. I would start Gabby & hope he could pitch the entire game. We have 3 good pitchers & now one of them is injured. This is an aside, but I’ve only heard the ESPN crew on Friday say Franklin was hurt, and they didn’t seem sure. Anybody heard anything?

I like the idea of having Zebby go 9 innings. If he is on, he can be one of the best in the conference. If you start Zebby and they get to him in the middle innings, then what do you do? Who can Coach bring in as relief that you can trust to get out of a jam or stop the bleeding? At times this year, we have had decent relief pitching and at other times it has been horrendous. Starting Mathew’s is probably our best shot with the hope that our bats score runs early. If we can get an early lead and the pitcher is pitching with a lead, it makes his job so much easier. We have proven we can beat them and that we can shut down their batters. In my opinion, in yesterdays win, it was key that we did not walk but 2 players the entire game. It could have been a lot worse for Wofford yesterday. We missed a lot of opportunities to score even more.
