I hope Coach Speir goes with him so we don’t have to start paying him again.

I have a couple of good friends that went to Louisville and trust me they said most of the fans wanted him gone last year....By finishing with 3 and 1 record at the end of the season he saved his job for one more year.....He left because he saw the writing on the wall and was going to get run off at some time....By quess is Spier will go with him and carry a clipboard on the sidelines there and follow him around....I'm not sure WCU wasn't paying his salary this year at Louisville....He isn't listed as a coach but adviser to the Head coach which is B_l S__t ....

I read somewhere that he makes like $220k+ a year as Chief of staff. His contract with Western says that he has to provide his tax returns to Western and that we deduct what he makes from othe sources from what we would have had to pay him to coach per his contract with us. I don’t think we are paying him since he went to Louisville. Someone on here knows for sure, but based on his contract with us, we don’t have to pay him if he makes at least as much as we were on the hook for. I sure hope he stays employed to keep us from paying.

I was wrong, it was summer 2025. This decision had to be the worst decision that a Western Carolina AD has ever made and there have been some doozies over the years. This was Randy Eaton and Mark Speir giving us all the middle finger. Speir never liked Western. Even sent his kids to App State. catamountsports.com/news/2019/2/16/211790982.aspx

But the worst decision ever by a WCU AD was Chip Smith's hiring of Dennis Wagner. Even Speir was not "THAT" bad lol. I mean Speir did have 3 winning seasons before losing a competent OC and then it went downhill fast, but he at least did not get blown out by a mediocre (for that year) Division II Tusculum team. As much as Speir had to go. Wagner to this day is the worst coach in WCU football history.
