I hate to pile on, but this was a terrible team last season, 15-41 was their record, only won 4 games on the road last year, and they have an interim head coach this season.
This could be a very long season.

I hate to pile on, but this was a terrible team last season, 15-41 was their record, only won 4 games on the road last year, and they have an interim head coach this season. This could be a very long season. While, it will take time for Beck to recruit his players fully and install his system and the type of players he wants for this program. This team still has talent. So I would not take a 1 game loss as an indication of the whole season. It was painful blowing the lead last night but this team could still take 3 of 4 or no worse than split the series. While I do not believe we will be good enough to get an at-large bid when tourny time comes but I can still see this team being competitive and making some noise in the SoCon and in the SoCon tournament. Still very early, and its the first game WCU has actually played with Head Coach Beck. I expect a bounce back today .
Also, look at the other teams that lost their opener last night
2 future WCU opponents #12 UNC loses to Seton Hall 10-8 #23 Oregon St loses to New Mexico 7-2
#18 Miami loses to Penn St (remember Big10 is not a quality baseball conference outside Maryland and maybe Michigan lol) 9-5
and I don't know if you call this an upset but the highly touted #2 Tennessee Vols lost to Arizona 3-1
Also Jacksonville St beat Georgia 8-5 in the SoCon Northeastern beat UNCG 11-0
So point I am making is this happens a lot in baseball and especially in the first part of the season.

Well put. As ugly as it was, it hardly spells doom, after all, we built a 12-5 lead to start with. As far as the errors go, there was a bad hop or two, and Pas makes that throw 98 times out of a hundred. It did seem like we lost focus after we built the big lead. Let's see what today brings.
