Attended the event/birthday party this afternoon for Henry in Asheville. A very well done program. My adult son attended as he has only heard about Henry for 35 years. Great stories were told and Henry was most gracious. But….why was no one from WCU in attendance? Someone from The Catamount Club, the athletic office, or a university rep should have been there. Perhaps someone was in attendance but I saw no one representing WCU….most disappointing. Come on….send someone to congratulate Henry and be part of the tribute.
I would have been there if I had known about it. I go back with Henry to his freshman year at Western. I have written numerous newspaper and magazines pieces about him and assisted with an ESPN documentary that included his career. There was nothing on WCU's website about the event so I'm assuming that no one in Cullowhee knew about the event. Too bad. I did see the piece WLOS-TV did on Tuesday evening's news.

I don’t know if it is the same for Henry as it is Ronnie Carr, but a little over a year and a half or so ago, I started talking via phone to Ronnie and he shared a lot with me. Ultimately, he said (can’t speak for others) we have been, in the past, all but pretty much been neglected by the school until the school wants something like the auction items etc.
I did share this with athletics and that is when they started some of the memorial things and halftime things etc but you would think someone (if they had known) would have been in attendance.
He told me that he was at a basketball camp a long time ago and Jordan and Worthy made the comment that if the 1st 3 pointer would have been made at Carolina he would have a statue outside the stadium. He said that really stuck with him over The years.
