Rome was not built or rebuilt in a day. We need to have a couple of years of very good recruiting to get back to consistent winning and being in the top 2 or 3 teams in the SoCon. We need good and great pitching and lots of it and we don’t have that now.

Pitching is definitely the biggest concern unfortunately it is also not Beck's strength as a coach, so hopefully the pitching coach can find some talent to put in front of Beck so that he can determine whether or not they fit in the Whee. I think Beck's biggest strength is that he knows the type of kids that fit into an underfunded program with sub par facilities. They have to be self-motivated and have a chip on their shoulder because they have been overlooked or undervalued by the big schools and have something to prove. If anyone can bring back the type of GRIT needed to succeed at WCU it will be Beck. No pre-madonnas just hard-nosed ball players that are going to give opponents hell win or lose. Even though this season has been rough it seems as though Beck has started to install some of that Grit already with multiple come from behind victories and the refusal to quit. Hopefully this can snowball into something bigger when he gets more of "his" players in the system. As a former player of his, I am rooting for him to bring back the catamount ways of old and get this program back on track.

Big time arm the only knock hear on him is he has hard time finding zone at times. Shoulder injuries used to be career killer but not now usually. My boy Flea tore labrum and he made it back to big leagues after missing year+. Lol and no Rome wasnt built in day but if you can hit it right in portal now you can fix in a year. Coaches were late to game this so made it hard. I went first game in Cullowhee in years during Wofford series and Beck and boys looked good then they blow up for inning or two. So signs are there. League is no where what it used to be so we will back sooner rather than later.

League is no where what it used to be so we will back sooner rather than later. Most of the existing pitchers on the Catamount Pitching Staff needs to have their scholarships terminated. I think the hitting has come around since the first part of the season. The bats have put runs on the board but the pitching has been terrible. In my opinion, not one pitcher on this staff should compete at the D1 level. It will take several years for Coach Beck to totally revamp a sorry pitching staff. We also have no depth in the infield & this was exposed when the starting 2nd baseman was out due to injury. Because of sorry pitching, it is really hard for me to watch this team play. There is not one pitcher that comes close to the best pitcher we had last year. This year is a bad year complements of Coach Mo. It seems that WCU hangs onto bad coaches way too long. Examples: Former Baseball Coach, Former Basketball Coach, and Former Football Coach. The expectations must be low to allow the jokes we have had in the past. The current coaches were hired with great expectations & they are going to have to turn things around with the resources they have now. Nothing brings in more money than being a winner.
