Western Carolina's Jasmine Greene was selected as the Female Freshman of the Year by the Southern Conference outdoor track & field head coaches as the league revealed its specialty awards Friday following the championship meet earlier in the week. Greene is the eighth Catamount to win the top freshman award all-time and the first since 2017.
Greene saw action in three events during the 2023 outdoor championship and scored 15 points for the Catamounts. She stood atop the podium in the women's triple jump competition with a personal best leap of 12.11 meters (39'8.75"). Her mark is tied for the fifth-best jump in program history.
