I’m thinking #22 will make me forget about #1 in no time. Dez was injury prone. Too many other problems with team than RB. Loaded in the backfield. I disagree. We looked way worse with him out

Truly depends on the offensive line.

I wonder what Bell said when Dez went to him to say he was leaving

That was last year and he only played when O line was hurt. Dez was an amazing talent for sure but he only played half the season both years. I wish him the best but it’s only gonna get tougher. I’m still hoping we’ll have Dez 2.0 next year.

Money talks and that is the world we live in now. He knows where he is going. That’s the way this works with players like Dez.

It is what it is, #22 will need to push harder and we'll need to look for a RB in the portal. Best of luck to Dez, he's a very good RB, but his size and the fact that he's injury prone may really hinder him at the FBS level. 2 years at WCU and he hasn't played a full season. Again, best of luck to him.
GO CATS!!

There are a lot of stories around about the constant back door "recruiting" being done by coaches to even players at other colleges and universities. With more than a few rumors about NIL money pitches. It was only a matter of time before we got hit with a star player entering. Reid has been injured twice with the latest being one that could easily lead to career ending. So, one really can't fault him if there is a scholarship and good NIL money on the table.

His twitter posts after his injury are interesting now. I have to wonder if he got pitched late because his twitter made it seem like he was going to come back stronger next year

On one side, tip your cap to Dez, wish him well, and understand this is a big opportunity for him. There are some FL schools on that list, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him head farther South vs going North.
As for what it does to our team, we are kidding ourselves if we say this isn’t a huge impact. We have some really talented guys in the RB room including a couple of FR who just redshirted that I think can be good. We also saw times where Adams looked like you could just plug him in and not miss a beat (after Reid went out at EKU and UTC). But as Bell mentioned numerous times, Dez is a different kind of Cat - an FBS-level player that slipped to us because of his size. This is exactly how things work now. Borderline 3 star recruits will go to smaller schools, prove they are good, and get swooped up by bigger schools. NIL or not this has always happened.
What we really need is to have more depth in our O-line. None of our backs looked nearly as good the last half of the season, and that had more to do with being down 2 and even 3 starters on the line than it did with who was playing RB. We probably won’t have the same home run hitter that can also turn 2 yard gains into 7, but have a deeper and healthier line and we can run the ball.
We also have the returning Offensive POTY and a ton of good WRs. So get the line right and we will be ok.
Best of luck #1 and thanks for some awesome runs these past 2 years.
