Joining another conference is not a good solution. The other conferences that are geographically feasible for WCU are poor choices The Big South/OVC don't have enough "fire-power" to warrant a move. Sure, we would likely be a playoff contender immediately, but they consistently only get 1 bid, and aren't considered a good football conference. The CAA is way too big already, with like 16 or 18 teams. Adding more only complicates what was already a weird tie breaking situation they had this year. Plus, you only play about half of the conference, which doesn't identify who the best teams really are I would like to see the SoCon add 1 or 2 teams and have a set-up similarly to the former Big 12. Play 1 out of conference game, and everything else is a conference game. I'd love to see UT Martin or Austin Peay along with Campbell or Gardner Webb in our conference That is not going to happen. The privates don't want to enlarge the conference. The CAA, with their now southern wing, would be a good fit. As they are now set up in football, they only play most of the schools every 5 years, if they divide into divisions for basketball, the southern wing (division) would be perfect for WCU.

the private schools are holding the conference back I think the private schools have the conference, just where they want it. They are not interested in expansion, and are just waiting the publics out.
